Notice is hereby given that the City of Austin will administer testing on Saturday, June 14, 2025. A physical agility test will begin at 9:00 AM, and candidates who successfully complete this will continue to a written examination. Both tests will be held at the fire station, 122 1 st Avenue NE.
This is part of the process to establish an eligibility list for the position of fulltime firefighter/engineer.
The following weights are assigned to examinations and other criteria for appointment to the position of firefighter/engineer. Candidates must receive a minimum score of 70% on the written examination to advance to the oral interview and presentation.
Physical Agility Test – Pass/Fail; must pass to advance to the written examination
Written Examination – 15%
Training & Experience – 30%
Oral Interview – 30%
Oral Presentation – 25%
The starting salary for this position is $22.81 – $32.59/hr.; $66,422.72 – $94,902.08 annually, based on a 2,912 hours per year schedule.
