Teen airlifted to Rochester after being struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office is still looking into an accident that took place early Saturday afternoon just outside of Austin that resulted in a teenager being airlifted to Rochester.
According to a Tuesday morning release from Sheriff Steve Sandvik, MCSO deputies along with the Austin Fire Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance were dispatched to the 18000 block of 540th Avenue for a vehicle versus pedestrian injury crash at around 1:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
An 18-year-old male had been struck by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old and was airlifted via Mayo One to St. Mary’s Mayo Clinic Hospital with serious injuries. There was no update of the teen’s condition as of Tuesday morning.
The 17-year-old was uninjured.
