Marian Mathilda Huntley-Lickteig, 92
Marian Mathilda Huntley-Lickteig, age 92, of Rose Creek, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester.
Marian was born May 3, 1933 in Adams Township, Mower County, Minnesota. She fell in love and married Donald Huntley on May 15, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams. She became a single mother when Don passed away on August 10, 1976. After 20 years as a widow, Marian found love again with Fred Lickteig who loved dancing as much as she did. They married on April 16, 1996 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Austin. Fred passed away on December 19, 2003.
The most important thing in Marian’s life was her family. She took care of her husband, Don, after he was diagnosed with cancer and again took care of Fred after his stroke. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, always ready with her sugar cookies or an apple pie. Marian advocated for her son, Ramon, his entire life-always involved in his care.
Marian enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, whether at a game or listening on the radio. She was a bowler for many years and loved gardening, fishing, playing cards and spending time with her friends and family. Marian was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and Rosary Society, the Adams Legion Auxiliary, the Adams Group Home Board, the Adams Healthcare Auxiliary and the Adams Friends and Fellowship Group.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Catherine; husbands, Donald Huntley and Fred Lickteig; son, Ramon Huntley; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Raymond Kiefer.
Survivors include her children, David Huntley, Adams, MN, Allan (Mary) Huntley, Taopi, MN, Donna (Scott) Baxter, Rochester, MN, Mark (Joann) Huntley, Adams, MN, Ruth (Denny) Kiefer, Racine, MN, Butch Huntley, Austin, MN; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; brothers, John (Carol) Koenigs, Fred (Jean) Koenigs, Richard (Pat) Koenigs, Ronald Koenigs; sister, Theresa Harding; sister-in-law, Vivian (Roman) Salz; many nieces and nephews.
The family is extremely grateful to the caregivers at St. Mark’s Living, Mayo Clinic, Cottagewood Senior Communities, and the Mayo Clinic Hospice Team.
