Austin Public Schools has revealed that the Thielen Foundation has chosen Austin High School for a full-weight room renovation — marking their biggest project to date.

The Thielen Foundation was established in 2018 by NFL wide receiver Adam Thielen and his wife, Caitlin Thielen. Born and raised in Minnesota, Adam was a two-time Pro Bowl selection during his time with the Minnesota Vikings and plays for the Carolina Panthers. The Foundation exists to serve, educate, and inspire individuals to achieve their full potential—a mission deeply rooted in the Thielens’ gratitude for the support they’ve received from communities across Minnesota.

“We are thrilled to work with the staff at Austin High School on a full renovation of the weight room for all athletes, students, and staff. We hope the brand-new space will inspire and motivate youth to reach their full potential on the field/court, in the classroom, and beyond,” The Thielen Foundation shared through a Friday release. “At the Thielen Foundation, we believe that each student-athlete deserves the proper equipment and environment for their athletic season, and we hope to make one school’s weight room that much more special this year!”

Preplanning is underway, and current equipment will be moved to a newly designated space at Ellis Middle School and is expected to keep the AHS renovation on track. It will give younger student-athletes expanded access to training equipment—opening up new opportunities in physical education, athletics, and overall wellness.

“This renovation supports our activities program by providing solutions for both in-season and off-season training,” Superintendent Dr. Joey Page said. “It will bring state-of-the-art equipment to Austin High School and build on the strong foundation, giving students and athletes access to a modern, versatile training environment.”

Construction on the new Austin High weight room is set to ramp up at the end of May and will take approximately four-six months to complete. A ribbon-cutting will be held at the completion of the project.
