What’s with the queen’s obsession with Spam? MCT to perform ‘The Frog Prince of Spamalot

Matchbox Children’s Theatre will be presenting “The Frog Prince of Spamalot” starting this Thursday.

Performance dates for the show are 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and there will also be a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The show will feature Jake Gustine and Jared Bartholomew’s MCT directing team debut and tells the story of Hyronomous A. Frog, who doesn’t fit in with the other frogs in the bog.

He’s much larger and has no taste for flies, but Gloria the Good Witch reveals that a maiden’s kiss is needed to lift the curse that has transformed him from a prince to a frog. He’ll head to Spamalot to see where his story takes him. 

Do you like SPAM? Do you like creative outlets in the community?” the directors asked in the show’s press release. “Do you also hate eating flies? Come support all of these things and the hard working youth from your own bog. Get your tickets now and make your way to MCT.”

The show will be held at First United Methodist Church and tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids 4-12. Three and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The mission of MCT is to spark imaginations by presenting professional quality children’s theatre on a consistent basis, while delivering theatre education excellence. 

A variety of  artistic performances have been staged by MCT, now in its 50th year, in Austin since 1975.
