April 7-11 is Severe Weather Awareness Week in both Minnesota and Wisconsin and as such drills will be conducted in both states.
Tornado drills will take place at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, however, if severe weather were an actual possibility, then the drills would be postponed to the following day on Friday, April 11.
The National Weather Service La Crosse will initiate the drills through the following means:
• NOAA Weather Radio – drill will be sent as Required Weekly Test with normal alert tones followed by drill verbiage.
• Social media
• NWS Chat/Slack
• MN ARMER and WISCOM radio networks.
• There will be no test tornado watch or warning sent from the NWS, nor will there be any wireless emergency alerts or push notifications to phones.
Outdoor warning siren activation will vary by jurisdiction. Some TV/radio stations may briefly cut into programming.
