The City of Rose Creek has voted in Tom Lewison to the City Council following a special election Tuesday.

Lewison won with 82 votes to Wendy Nelson’s 62 votes according to the unofficial vote tally from the Mower County Auditor-Treasurer’s Department.

The special election was required after the seat was originally filled through appointment, however, due to an oversight by the City, the position was supposed to be included in the November 2024 ballot as a special election.

Mower County Auditor-Treasurer Scott Felton said that election law allowed for the city to file a petition with the courts to request the special election.

Rose Creek is a mail ballot precinct so ballots were mailed to registered voters in the city.
