Mark Joseph Mullenbach, 70

Mark Joseph Mullenbach, 70, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Mark was born on June 17, 1954, in Osage, Iowa, to Norbert and Alice (Klapperich) Mullenbach. He spent his childhood in Johnsburg, Minnesota, and graduated with the Adams High School Class of 1972. In 1979, he married and had two children, Katherine and Chase, before divorcing in 1983.

He retired from Quality Pork in 2018 after many years of service. Mark enjoyed tinkering, good company, watching westerns, and tuning in to Vikings and Twins games. In recent years, he enjoyed checking in with his son on the phone. He took great pride in his grandchildren, and even as his health declined, he was looking forward to watching them grow.

A good man – like all of us, imperfect and complex – Mark lived a simple, no-frills life and was known for his easygoing nature, friendly conversation, and genuine curiosity about the lives and stories of those around him.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Mathias and Samuel Mullenbach; his sister, Norma Mullenbach; his nephew, Calvin Mayer; and his brother-in-law, Jim Wagner.

He is survived by his children, Kathy of North Dakota, and Chase (Allison) of Washington, D.C.; his grandsons, Joseph and William; his sisters, Linda Wagner of Osage, Iowa, Sharon Mullenbach of Austin, Minnesota, and Ann (Joe) Mayer of Stacyville, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
