Brian Houston, 67

In Loving Memory of Brian Keith Houston
November 15, 1957 – April 5, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Brian Keith Houston, who left us on April 5th at the age of 67, with family by his side. A loving father, cherished friend, and charismatic soul, Brian touched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth, wisdom, and laughter.

Born and raised in Austin, Minnesota, Brian dedicated 22 years of his life to the United States Army, serving his country with honor and pride. After retiring from the military, he traded in his uniform for a captain’s hat and found peace on the waters of Mille Lacs Lake, guiding others as a boat captain.

An avid outdoorsman, Brian lived fully in nature’s rhythm, whether fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, or playing pool with good friends.

Brian leaves behind a family that loved him, eldest daughter Christine, son Matthew, and daughter Katherine; eight grandchildren; his brother Tom; sister Sue (James); sister-in-law Theresa; and his significant other, Deanna. His legacy lives on in the stories he shared, the values he instilled, and the love he gave freely.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 10th from 3-6 p.m. at the VFW in Austin, Minnesota, where friends and loved ones are invited to gather, share stories, raise a glass, and remember Brian in the way he would’ve wanted—surrounded by laughter, love, and community.

Though Brian may be gone from our sight, we’ll find him in every sunset over the lake, every ripple in the water, and every trail through the woods – He will never be gone from our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to a military veterans’ organization of your choice.
