Austin Symphony Orchestra wraps up its season featuring acclaimed pianist

The Austin Symphony  Orchestra will wrap up its current season when it presents a Van Cliburn finalist and Minneapolis native, Kenny Broberg, as the final soloist of the season on Sunday, May 4.

The concert will be held starting at 2 p.m. in Knowlton Auditorium.

During the performance, Broberg will perform Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 by Rachmaninoff.

Broberg won the 2021 American Pianist Awards as well as the Christel DeHaan Classical Fellowship. He won a silver medal at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Tschaikovsky Competition.

Broberg’s piano playing began at the age of six and while in Minneapolis, he studied piano with Dr. Joseph Zins in St. Paul.

Broberg has a degree from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music as well as having studied under Van Cliburn gold medalist Stanislav Ioudenitch. He joined the faculty of Reina Sofia School of Music in Madrid in 2022.

His performances have taken him to Europe, Asia, Australia and North America and released “Sonatas by Medtner Rachmaninoff and Scriabin” through Steinway and Sons in 2023.
