Austin Area Arts announces the second show of the Paramount Goes Dark mini-performance series at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at Riverland Community College’s Frank W. Bridges Theatre.

This performance features Commotion: The Ultimate Creedence Clearwater Tribute and Multi-Media Concert Experience, and the series is presented to coincide with the closure of the Historic Paramount Theatre while it undergoes renovation and expansion.

The show will take people back to the glory days of the late 60s and early 70s with authentic renditions of CCR’s greatest hits. Commotion prides itself on unparalleled attention to detail and commitment to faithfully reproducing the iconic CCR sound. From the soulful voice of Steve McLain to the mesmerizing guitar solos of Jimmy Ryan, the band brings every riff, melody, and rhythm to life with astonishing precision.

Ryan is a platinum-selling musician with a Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award, having recorded and performed with superstars like Carly Simon, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Rod Stewart, and Jim Croce among others.

McLain possesses a vocal prowess that rivals John Fogerty, who celebrates his 80th birthday this year. With McLain’s husky timbre, emotive delivery, and uncanny ability to recreate the raw energy of Fogerty, audiences are transported back to the era where CCR ruled the airwaves.

CCR was known for infectious beats. Drummer Mark Ellis and bassist George Foster deliver with unrivaled intensity and infectious rhythms that shaped rock history.

Commotion’s setlist is a rollercoaster ride through all the hits. From the swampy grooves of “Green River” to the poignant balladry of “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” and the foot-stomping frenzy of “Bad Moon Rising.”

Following Commotion, one final “Paramount Goes Dark” event remains:

Thurs May 8, 2025, 7:30pm

Neil Berg’s “100 Years of Broadway” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 and will also be performed at Frank W. Bridges Theatre.

General admission seats are available for both events including discounted student rate tickets at only $10 each.
