It seems like, with very little provocation, that we’ve segued rather abruptly into spring ahead of time. Temperatures this past weekend were really nice and welcome after some of the cold snaps and the snow dump we had not long ago.

And the way it looks, temperatures are going to be just as nice, if not nicer this coming weekend with a chance to breach the 70 degree mark this coming Friday.

With these warmer temperatures we are also seeing more of our neighbors getting outside to enjoy those things we couldn’t when the cold gripped our area. More people are grilling, motorcycles are roaring, people are walking, running or long-boarding.

We highly recommend you take the chance to get outside and take your own advantage of this early preview of spring.

This is not an easy time and admittedly the news often can be filled with negative and depressing headlines. Social media has become a minefield of derision, argument and an even broader sense of negativity.

It seems every day we’re a world in conflict in one way or another. But being outside, whether that’s a pleasant walk by yourself or with friends and family, is an opportunity to get away from all of this, at least for a while.

Being outside has been scientifically proven to have benefits. Sunlight itself stimulates the release of the hormones serotonin and endorphins that heighten feelings of well-being and can reduce stress.

But it’s also distracting in a good way.

The birds are coming out, the animals are moving and yes, things are starting to show early signs of blooming.

Going for a walk or getting the bicycle out gets you the much needed exercise we could all use more of, and in turn the exercise itself can provide a better feeling.

These are positive energies to be a part of and can keep at bay those things that are dominating the headlines these days. And while you’re out, please be aware of what you bring with you. Do your part to ensure that when we take our chance to be outside, that it’s not ruined by garbage.
