Lowell Levi Anderson, 96

Lowell Levi Anderson, age 96, of Waltham, MN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning, March 24, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

Lowell was born on April 7, 1928, on the family farm near Waltham, MN, during a snowstorm. His Uncle Lester braved the storm, traveling by horse and wagon to bring the doctor from the train outside of Sargeant, ensuring Lowell’s safe arrival into the world. He was the fourth of nine children born to Bert and C. Loraine Anderson, growing up in a home filled with love, hard work, and strong family bonds.

Lowell attended country school through the eighth grade before continuing his education at Austin High School, where he graduated in 1946. A lifelong farmer, Lowell dedicated himself to the land, carrying on the traditions of his family while embracing innovation and hard work. One of the highlights of his early adulthood was working as a Minnesota state fair usher in 1947 and 1948.

In 1960, Lowell’s life changed for the better when he met Connie Irvine, the girl from the neighboring farm. They were married on February 17, 1962, beginning a partnership that spanned over six decades.

Lowell was deeply involved in his community, always ready to lend his time and leadership. He served as a Resolutions committeeman for AMPI for several years, was a member of the Co-op Board of Directors in Sargeant, MN, and served on the Hayfield Lumber Company Board of Directors. His dedication to the Waltham Cemetery Association was evident through his many years as president. Additionally, he spent years as a trusted Jacques seed corn salesman, forming lasting relationships with local farmers. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Sargeant, MN.

Lowell’s legacy is one of kindness, integrity, and a deep love for the land and livestock he tended to his entire life on the century farm established by his grandparents in 1883.  He will be remembered for his gentle wisdom, warm sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends.  His grandchildren will remember him for watching game show network, his never-ending supply of starlight mints, butterscotch candies, scoops of peanut butter, love of pepsi and always a nutty bar in his pocket.
