Superman soars through the skies with his flight and invincibility. Wonder Woman wields super strength alongside her lasso of truth. Iron Man combines intelligence with a high-tech suit, while Black Widow thrives on her stealth and formidable fighting skills. Each of these superheroes possesses unique superpowers that make them extraordinary.
However, superpowers are not confined to the realm of comic books and blockbuster films. They are accessible to anyone, given the right environment—be it a classroom, an after-school program, a club, or even a public library.
For years, the Austin Public Library has been transforming everyday individuals, like you and me, into heroes by offering skills and services that enable patrons of all ages to accomplish truly remarkable feats and build a stronger community.
Here’s a glimpse of upcoming events at the Austin Public Library designed to help you unleash your superpowers:
March 15: Comic-Con. Join us for four hours filled with free crafts, comics, exciting prizes, a movie, and a special appearance by author and illustrator Drew Brockington. Costumes are highly encouraged!
March 13 and 27: Coding Club. Unlock new coding skills through game design and creation, mentored by experienced coders. This program is perfect for tech and game enthusiasts aged 9-16.
March 24: Digital Trivia. Boost your finger dexterity and mental agility with trivia focused on a wide array of musicals. This event is open to all ages.
March 31: Grow a Tea Garden. Explore your creativity and enhance your knowledge by planning and cultivating an extraordinary tea garden.
Story Time Tuesdays: Empower young heroes (ages 2-5) with early literacy skills through an hour of engaging storytelling and play every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
While the superpowers acquired at the Austin Public Library may not involve dazzling displays like those we see on the big screen, they do empower many patrons with intelligence, confidence, and valuable skills that help both the individual and the community thrive. So why not visit the Austin Public Library and discover what superpowers await you.
