Larry Milo Barclay was born in Austin, Minnesota on May 24, 1948, to Alvin “Buck” and Annie (Bos) Barclay. Larry passed away February 25, 2025, in Eureka Springs AR at the age of 76 where he resided the last 4 years with his loving wife Linda.
He was a member of the VFW & Moose Lodge in Austin, American Legion Post #9 in Holiday Island AR. Larry served in the Navy; he was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam war. He liked reading and watching classic westerns (shoot em up bang bangs), playing horseshoes, telling stories and watching his MN sports teams (Vikings, Twins & Gophers). He involuntarily retired from Weyerhaeuser in Austin. Larry was a loving Husband, Brother, Uncle, Father, Cousin, Grandfather, Great Grandfather & Friend.
September 23, 1989, Larry was united in marriage to Linda (Johnson) Barclay who survives him. He is also survived by his children Tonja Cook, Larry Barclay Jr., Jenni Johnson (Justin), Charles Johnson (Susan), Courtney Kohl; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings Dolores Hemming, Joyce (Tom) Rietveld, Ronald (Sharon) Barclay, Roy (Lil) Barclay & Alvin Barclay; Sister and brother in laws: Cheryl and Mike Nelson (family), Gail and Dan Nasby (family), Bobbie Jo Utzka and Fiancé Amber Viktora along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Annie Barclay, Stepmother Jennie Barclay, Sisters & Brother in laws: Annetta & Kenny Fredrickson, Shirley & Dave Vanvleet, Sister-in-law June Barclay, Brother-in-law Jack Hemming & Nephew Danny Fredrickson, His Father and Mother-in-Law Charles and Nancy Johnson, Brother in Laws Jim and Jerry Johnson and David Utzka. As well as his beloved dog Lady.
He has requested the MN VIKINGS serve as his honorary pallbearers so they can let him down for the last time. If you know, you know.
A memorial service will be held at Grandview Cemetery at 11:30am on Saturday April 5th with a Celebration of Life at the Mapleview Hall 1pm-5pm. He requested informal attire (Patriotic or Vikings).
