The No. 7 seeded Riverland Community College men’s basketball team lost to No. 6 Salem Community College (24-7 overall) 72-67 in an NJCAA Division III Tournament opener in Herkimer, New York Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (29-4 overall) led 37-27 at the half, but they couldn’t hold on.

Christian Campbell finished with 19 points and four rebounds for RCC and Austin grad Buai Duop had 12 points, four rebounds and five assists.

RCC will now play a consolation game at 10 a.m. Thursday.
