Betty Iverson

Betty Marie Iverson passed away peacefully, at the age of 100, after a short illness at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin, Minnesota.

Betty was born October 28, 1924 in Austin, Minnesota to Fred and Mabel (Morgan) Arens in the family home. She resided in the same home until 2022. She was the second of five children and attended school in Austin.

Betty married the love of her life, Vern Iverson, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa on December 23, 1944. They were married nearly 73 years until Vern passed October 11, 2017.

She retired from George A. Hormel after 37 years at the age of 55. The last 15 years was working on the same line with Vern in the Dry Sausage department.

Betty loved camping, being outdoors, cooking, and watching old western movies. But most of all, she loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and holding her great-great grandbabies.

She will be missed for her caring, her wit and her love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vern; brothers, Fredrick and John; sisters, Beryl and Francis; and her sons, David and Larry.

Betty is survived by her son, Stan (Debi) Iverson of Austin; daughters-in-law, Marilynn (Pedie) Iverson of Austin, and Kathy Iverson of Lakeland, Florida; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 6th at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Reverend McQuade Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and memorials, the family asks that you spend time with your loved ones, visit people in nursing homes, and do kind acts for others. Love the people God gave you as He will need them back someday.

A special thank you to the staff at Mayo Health Systems, Sacred Heart Care Center and Assisted Living, and Mayo Hospice for all mom’s wonderful and compassionate care.
