The Austin Public Schools Board on Monday night approved a bid for the reconstruction of Paulson Courts located at Wescott Athletic Complex.

The board approved the ISG-recommended bid from Rochester Sand and Gravel for $516,674.08. ISG was hired to conduct the seal-bid process for the tennis courts project that came under the initial estimates for between $630,000-$700,000.

The primary reason for the dip in estimated cost was due to borings at the site discovering not as much work will be required for the base as initially thought.

Plans call for a complete reconstruction of the courts due to the degraded nature of the pavement that is creating hazards in using the facility.

The footprint of the courts will not change and will still feature eight courts. According to current plans, two of the courts will also feature lining for pickleball.

Construction on the courts could begin this spring with an estimated completion in August so as not to disrupt the two Packers tennis seasons this spring and next fall.
