Results from short-term radon testing showed two areas within the Austin School District that had elevated levels of radon.

According to a memo that was accepted as part of the Austin Public School Board’s consent agenda Monday night, results were elevated or above the 4.0 picocuries per liter action level in both the Oakland Education Center and Wescott Athletic Complex.

The school district will take the following actions in regard to mitigating the increased levels by having the facilities fresh air intake increased and the placing of CRM detectors in the buildings this week so as to gather more data regarding what time and day the levels are elevated.
