Lyle E. Elleby, 71
Lyle Edwin Elleby, 71, of Austin, Minnesota passed away Friday, February 22, 2025, at Wildwood Grove in LeRoy, Minnesota.
Lyle Edwin Elleby was known by everyone as “Ed”. He was born on May 18, 1953, at Woodward Memorial Hospital in Sandwich, Illinois to Lyle and Iva (Walters) Elleby. Lyle grew up in Newark, Illinois. He attended Lisbon Elementary and went to Lisbon High School.
On September 23, 1989, he married Connie Turnmire at First Lutheran Church of Hope in Hope, Minnesota. They were blessed with one son, James.
Lyle enjoyed working all of his life. Lyle started his job at Weyerhauser on November 16, 1977, then later became International Paper, where Lyle retired after 38 ½ years. After retiring, Lyle worked at Walmart for 8 years as a greeter. Lyle enjoyed reading science fiction books, going to movies, fairs, seeing concerts, watching dvds, and going to farmers markets. He also loved visiting with family and friends.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 35 years, Connie of Austin, MN; son, James (Elizabeth) of Duluth, MN; four grandchildren, Penelope, Fergus, Persephone, and Lochlyn; brother, Christian (Mary) Elleby of Cook, MN; two nephews, Eric (Anna) Elleby of Cook, MN and Jordan (Marta) Elleby of Washington brother-in-law, Michael (Juli) Turnmire of Owatonna, MN;; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Iva Elleby; sister, Joanne; brother-in-law, Robert Ulwelling; in-laws, Robert and Donna Turnmire; his brother-in-law, Gary Turnmire; and nephew-in-law, Kevin Turnmire.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, MN, with Pastor David Stoeger officiating. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Danish Baptist Cemetery, rural Steele County.
