In a world that has become more and more focused on things that are online or far away, it’s always a great idea to reconnect with what’s right in front of you.
I took advantage of the great weather we’ve been having and enjoyed a stroll at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center this week. I can tell you, it’s a trip that I never regret taking.
There is something about the sound of rushing water, the feel of a soft breeze and the touch of sunlight on your face that boosts the spirit, especially after we faced extremely cold temperatures just a week ago.
I don’t know how many times I’ve walked to the tower and back at the Nature Center, but I do know that every trip is different. Whether it’s the color of the fields, the tint of the sky, or the movement of the clouds, there is always a slight variation.
Watching the world change in its natural state is a phenomenon that has captured humanity’s eyes since the dawn of time and we’d be foolish to abandon such thrills in today’s modern world.
Every time I step into nature, I feel closer and more connected to the world. I can also turn back time and reflect on the walks I took on those same paths when my children were much younger and I was much less experienced in the ways of the world.
Nature serves a different purpose for everyone, and I highly encourage you all to get out and enjoy it.
