Dean David Froman, 84
September 18, 1940 – February 12, 2025
Dean David Froman, 84, of Blooming Prairie, MN passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025. Born on September 18, 1940, in Faribault, MN, he was the son of Jaunda (Carlisle) and David Froman. Dean married the love of his life, Judy, on August 18, 1973, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. Dean spent his life dedicated to family, friends, and community.
Dean worked for nearly three decades at Austin Utilities, retiring as a purchasing manager in February 2002. His early years were marked by a love of basketball, holding multiple school records at Medford High School and earning a spot on the Gopher Conference All-Star Team his junior year. His passion for sports continued throughout different phases of his life, as he enjoyed bowling, softball, golfing, and fishing. He also found joy in gardening, traveling to Gulf Shores, and spending time with his loved ones.
Dean was a family man through and through, known for his warm heart, quick wit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome-often bestowing them with a special nickname. He found great joy in woodworking, crafting cabinets, cedar chests, and other treasures for those he loved. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he did so humbly, never seeking recognition. He quietly donated his time to volunteer at numerous charitable organizations and was an active member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church.
Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; his children, Kim Molitor, Kory (Kelly) Kyllo, Dena (Mark) McKinney, and Richard (Jessica) Froman; his sisters, Ina Huggenvik and Mary LaCroix; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jaunda and David Froman; his brothers, Richard and Glenn; son-in-law, Paul Molitor, and infant granddaughter, Heather Molitor.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin, MN. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Waltham, MN, with visitation one hour prior. A private burial will be held in the spring.
