Darlene Lee, 87
Darlene A. Lee, age 87, of Adams, MN, died Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Cedar Court in Adams.
Darlene Ardis Hanson was born on March 27, 1937, in a log cabin outside of Adams, MN. She was the third child of Henry and Celia Hanson, after brother Donald and sister Shirley. Her youngest brother, Robert, completed the family. She graduated from Adams High School in 1955. On March 2, 1971, Darlene married Donald Evert Lee. She was a kind and loving stepmother to Don’s children: Mark, Teri, and Jon. She was a wonderful daughter-in-law to Don’s mother, Florence Lee Horne. During their long and happy marriage, Darlene and Don were grandparents to 5 grandchildren. They traveled, lived in interesting places and had a wonderful life together. In Ashland, Wisconsin, Darlene and her husband started DELTCO Plastics Recycling, where she was a founding board member. Darlene’s contributions helped form this long-standing asset to northern Wisconsin’s industry and economy. After Don’s passing, in 1995, Darlene moved to St. Anthony, MN, to be close to her sister, Shirley, who struggled with COPD. Darlene aided in Shirley’s care until her death. Darlene remained in St. Anthony for a number of years until her own health caused her to make a change to Assisted Living. She moved to Cedar Court in Adams, MN, in February 2022.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Celia; husband Donald Lee; brother Donald Hanson; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and John Roberts; mother-in-law Florence Lee Horne; niece Holly Hanson; one grandson and one granddaughter; one great-nephew.
She is survived by brother Robert (Sharon) Hanson; sister-in-law Connie Hanson; nieces Shauna Schlichter, Deborah Katsaros, Sherri Miller, and Melody Hair; nephews David Roberts and Scott Hanson; 3 grandchildren; as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
Darlene was a gentle, kind-hearted, Christian lady who lived her life caring for others. She has been a blessing to all of us and her spirit will be with us through our days.
A private family service will be held.
