Darcy Raye (Lomholt) Nickson was born on December 5, 1956 in Austin, Minnesota to parents Louis “Bud” and Lyn (Heinicke) Lomholt. She attended school in Austin and graduated from Southland High School in Adams, MN in 1975.

On August 5, 1978 Darcy was married to Kenneth “Nick” Nickson at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota. The couple was blessed with four children and almost 47 years of marriage.

She was an independent business woman who held various jobs through her life, primarily owning/operating Twice Is Nice for over 12+ years in Lake Mills. During her time at Twice Is Nice, she befriended countless people from all walks of life. The store was a perfect fit for Darcy who had a servant’s heart, often giving away as much as she sold. The store also allowed Darcy the freedom to socialize all day-and we all know Darcy was good at talking! She loved to gab with customers, she loved Lake Mills, and most importantly she never met a stranger.

Grandma Darcy adored her grandchildren as well as their friends who considered her grandma. Anyone can see how patriotic she was with her flags and lawn decorations; so proud of her sons’ commitment to the armed forces. She loved to do yardwork, crafts, and bake. Her butter-filled cookies and “moist” zucchini bread were the bomb.

Darcy and Nick were each other’s best friend, spending time on the motorcycle, going on day trips, or just running to Walmart. Darcy and Nick were always together.

She will be missed greatly by her husband Kenneth “Nick” Nickson of Lake Mills; children Shannon (Ryan) Kesler of Lake Mills, Alisha (Dan) Mielke of Eau Claire, WI, and Cody (Jessica) Nickson of Frisco, TX; 11 grandchildren Téah & Tenley Kesler, Kitara, Adalia, Peyton & Dylan Mielke, and Paisley, Maverick, Carter, Atlas & Gemma Nickson; a sister Debra Hoffman of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law Lee Nickson of Lake Mills; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Darcy was preceded in death by her parents Louis Lomholt and Lyn Platts; son Dillin in 2011; a sister Darla Arnold; uncle Otis Heinicke; and sister-in-law Barb Nickson.
