The No. 10 seeded Blooming Prairie girls basketball team lost to No. 7 Lanesboro (16-11 overall) 57-33 in a Section 1A Tournament opener in Lanesboro Thursday.

The Awesome Blossoms (7-19 overall) trailed 13-11 in the first half when the Burros put together a 16-0 run.

“That has seemed to be the common theme this year. We were not built to absorb big runs,” BP head coach John Works said. “We were relatively young so hopefully those girls gained some valuable experience. As far as our seniors, I am very thankful. They were the ones that accepted the young players and made them feel part of the squad.”
