Austin senior Sam Winkels earned his third straight trip to the state wrestling meet when he won the Section 1AA title at 285-pounds in Mayo Civic Center Saturday.

Winkels beat Waseca’s Ben Hagen with an 18-2 tech. fall in the finals as he had a dominant day on the mat.

Winkels recorded a pin and a pair of tech falls on his way to the championship match.
