This event has grown since last year, and with the addition of kindergarten students to the building, organizers are expecting an even bigger turnout than last year’s impressive crowd of over 400 attendees.

Family Literacy Night is a fantastic opportunity for students and their families to connect with teachers, engage in fun literacy-based activities, and experience the welcoming environment of Banfield Elementary. This event is designed to foster a love of reading while bringing the Banfield community together in a meaningful way.

Throughout the evening, families will have the chance to explore various interactive stations designed to make literacy fun and engaging. Activities include face painting, reading games, and craft stations where children can create their own masks and bookmarks.

The campfire reading station will return, offering a cozy and immersive storytelling experience. Additionally, the Nature Center will be on-site, providing an exciting educational experience that ties literacy and nature together.

New stations this year include illustrating books, a drama club performance, and a book hike, offering even more ways for students to experience literacy in creative and interactive ways.

To make the evening even more convenient for families, a free meal will be provided for attendees. This allows families to relax and enjoy their time at the event without the added worry of dinner plans.

Banfield Elementary staff members are looking forward to this event as an opportunity to strengthen relationships with families and emphasize the importance of literacy in a fun and engaging setting. “Family Literacy Night is one of the best nights of the year,” said a Banfield staff member. “It’s incredible to see families exploring the school, engaging in activities together, and celebrating the joy of reading.”

Whether your child is a returning student or brand new to Banfield Elementary, this is the perfect opportunity to experience the school’s welcoming atmosphere, interact with teachers and staff, and participate in enriching activities.

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend Family Literacy Night on February 20th! With an evening full of learning, laughter, and literacy, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
