Mower County Steve Sandvik announced on Wednesday that the Mower County Justice Center is closed to the public until further notice.

Sandvik said the decision came after several employees had to quarantine after testing positive or coming into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. He added that members of the County Jail staff, County Corrections staff and County Attorney’s staff have been impacted.

“We want to protect the public health and make sure we have enough employees to keep the place open,” Sandvik said. “If we have a (COVID) hotspot there, we don’t want the public coming in and spreading it.”
