Shirley Ann DeYoung, age 84, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, May 29, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at Mayo Health System – St. Marys Campus in Rochester Minnesota. Shirley was born February 3, 1936 in Grand Meadow, Minnesota to Minar and Mina (Kruger) Bussell. She grew up in Grand Meadow and graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1954. Shirley worked at First Methodist Church in Rochester, Minnesota until her marriage. On February 10, 1956, Shirley was united in marriage to Everett DeYoung in

Rochester, Minnesota. To this union, two children were born. Shirley spent her time raising her family. She was a life member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary and a life member of Eastern Star. Faith was important to Shirley. She held various leadership roles throughout her life at Fellowship United Methodist in Austin, Minnesota. Shirley was a passed director of the Mower County Historical Society for over twelve years. Hobbies included going camping with her family all across the United States and making many afghans for family members. Shirley will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving husband Everett DeYoung of Austin, Minnesota; a son, Mark (Kelly) DeYoung of Casa Grande, Arizona; a daughter, Debra DeYoung (Gary Russell) of Rochester, Minnesota; a brother, Charles (Vicki) Bussell of Kiona, Hawaii; a sister in law, Barbara Bussell of Stewartville, Minnesota; six grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many other wonderful friends and relatives. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Harry and Minar; two sisters, Marion and Lois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials can be directed to the donor’s choice.
