HHH offering modified Autism Summer Camp

2020 is the 10th anniversary of the Hormel Historic Home offering summer camp opportunities to youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Austin community.

Although typically on-site or in the community camps cannot be provided, camp directors are working diligently to offer ‘camp kits’ which can be picked up for registered campers from 3-6 p.m. on Monday, July 6, at the south garden entrance of the Hormel Historic Home.

Kit contents, activities, and method of implementation vary based on which camp eligibility. The following camp kits are available:

• Circle of Friends Camp — For youth entering first through fifth grades who are typically able to work in small groups and have a functional communication ability;

• All Access Community Explorations — For youth in grades 6-12 who are typically able to work in small groups and have a functional communication system; and

• Camp Just For Me — For youth in grades 1-12 who typically need one-to-one support.

Kits are available at no cost to eligible youth.
