Two injured in Friday afternoon accident near Lyle; Alcohol a factor in collision

Two individuals were taken to the hospital after a vehicle collision Friday afternoon on Highway 218.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol accident report, a 2007 Grand Prix was traveling south on Highway 218. A 2008 Subaru Outback was traveling north on Highway 218 when the two vehicles collided at about 12:42 p.m. north of Lyle.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Lyle Fire Department, Lyle First Responders and Mayo Ambulance responded to the scene.

The driver of the Pontiac, Brett Alan Frank, 41, of Lyle, and the driver of the Subaru, Sarah Mae Ehret, 53, of Austin, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Frank was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin and Ehret was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.

The section of the report dealing with Frank states that alcohol was involved in the accident.
