The Riverland Community College men’s basketball team beat Northland (17-11 overall) 98-92 in a Region Tournament opener in Anoka-Ramsey Friday.

Montrell Jacobs had 25 points and five rebounds for the Blue Devils (24-4 overall) and Austin grad Nyagoa Obany had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Blue Devils led by as many as 25, but Northland was able to close the gap down the stretch.

RCC will now play St. Cloud Tech in Anoka-Ramsey at 4 p.m. Saturday. RCC and SCT split the regular season series.
