Blossoms move within a win of state

The No. 1 seeded Blooming Prairie girls basketball team moved within one win of its first state tournament berth since 1999 when it beat Hayfield 62-33 in a Section 1A semifinal in Rochester Saturday.

Megan Oswald finished with 18 points for BP (21-5 overall), but she missed an eight-minute stretch in the first half with two early fouls.

“While she sat out, Allison Krohnberg handled the defensive duties in the middle and did an outstanding job,” BP head coach John Bruns said.

Maggie Bruns hit two threes in the first five minutes to ignite the Awesome Blossoms.

Lila Gronseth and Kristen Watson each scored 10 for the Vikings (16-12 overall).
