Relay for Life continues 2020 planning

Planning for the 2020 Relay for Life continues moving forward to this year’s event, which for the second year will be held in downtown Austin, on Main Street.
The American Cancer Society planners have released an update for the event, which will be held on July 24 as well as information for your wellbeing.
Mower County Update
• 2020 Honorary Chair confirmation: Andrea Severtson
• The kick-off is being targeted for a kick-off at Pizza Ranch. Relay for Life information will be handed out and people will get assistance sign teams up. Volunteers are being sought to help clear tables at the end of the night. More information will be released when available.
• Team registration: The group is hoping to get as many teams signed up as possible before the event.
• Organizers are looking for more food trucks, vendors, and any business that would like to sell their products during the day of the event or host kid-friendly activities. If there is interest, they can contact Garrett Stadsvold: Garrett.stadsvold@cancer.org or 507-424-4617

Cervical Cancer Awareness Month:
• Each January, the American Cancer Society observes Cervical Cancer Awareness Month to increase awareness that regular screening for women, and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for pre-teens and teens, can prevent most cervical cancers.
