Cletus and Bev were part of E.P. Hatten and Sons until 1974, when E. P. Hatten passed away, at which time two of their sons took over the business. Bev was involved with the hardware store and funeral home business, doing much of the behind the scenes work.

During their retirement years, they spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona, enjoying sunshine and friends. Bev will always be remembered for her hospitality and for the many wonderful meals she served to family and friends. She enjoyed having her neighbors and friends gather on her patio for companionship and cocktails on summer afternoons. She especially enjoyed playing cards and playing stock market. Bev kept in touch with all her family and was the “hub” of the family.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cletus, in 1997; and two granddaughters, Amy Michele and Elizabeth Anne Hatten. Bev is survived by her six children, Nick (Avis) Hatten, Edward (Karla) Hatten, Jane (Bob) Melton, Susan Hosek, Nancy Theobald and James Hatten; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Frizzell of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mary Harding of Chandler, Arizona.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at Visitation Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Visitation Cemetery.
