Two individuals arrested during a Friday morning traffic stop made their first appearances on Tuesday in Mower County District Court.

Darron Dylan Miller, 35
Angela Marie Edge, 35, of Austin and Darron Dylan Miller, 35, of St. Paul were charged with felony first-degree drugs – possess 25 grams or more of heroin. In addition, Miller was charged with two counts of felony third-degree drugs – possess schedule I or II narcotic in a school zone – while Edge was charged with felony fifth-degree drug possession and misdemeanor driving after revocation.
According to the court complaint, a Minnesota State trooper spotted a 2013 Ford Focus at 1:35 a.m. on Nov. 29 on Fourth Street Northwest in Austin. He ran the license plate and learned the Ford’s registered owner did not have a valid license. He then initiated a traffic stop and informed the driver, Edge, that the registered owner did not have a valid license and that she matched the owner’s description. Edge said the vehicle belonged to a friend. When asked for a driver’s license, Edge told the trooper she did not have it with her. Miller was sitting in the passenger seat.
The trooper learned that Edge’s driver’s license status was “revoked.” Edge appeared to become very nervous when asked about her license status. The trooper asked where she was coming from and she said she had just dropped off a friend.

Angela Marie Edge, 35
The trooper suspected Edge was under the influence of a controlled substance, but later determined she was not after conducting field sobriety tests. Miller was sweating profusely and the trooper, who was trained to recognize drug impairment, could tell he was under the influence of a controlled substance.
The trooper then informed Edge he suspected criminal activity and asked for consent to search the vehicle. Edge became frantic and wanted to know why and was told it was because of her nervous behavior and Miller being visibly impaired.
The Austin Police Department canine unit arrived on the scene and the canine indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Law enforcement then searched the vehicle and found purses containing:
- New and used small plastic bags;
- Several empty syringes, including one containing an unknown blackish, brown substance;
- A methamphetamine pipe;
- A small amount of heroin;
- Pieces of burnt tin foil;
- Four THC vape cartridges;
- Numerous pipes containing marijuana and methamphetamine residue;
- A small plastic bag containing four grams of an unknown yellowish substance;
- A small bag containing pills; and
- Edge’s State of Minnesota identification card.
Law enforcement also found a sock that contained $3,990 in cash in the driver’s door pocket and scales, drug ledger books and 37.5 grams of heroin on the passenger side of the vehicle.
A pat search of Edge revealed a sock containing an additional $204. Law enforcement saw a plastic bag sticking out of Miller’s pocket which contained approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine. Mille r later advised them that he had a bag in his sock which was found to contain crack cocaine. He was also found to be in possession of $790 in cash.
A review of Edge’s criminal record shows prior convictions for theft, forgery, check forgery, issuing dishonored checks and receiving stolen property. A review of Miller’s criminal record shows prior convictions for drug possession, domestic assault, theft and violating a harassment restraining order.
Both will appear in court again on Dec. 16.
