SMART Transit has announced that will be raising the prices of its services by 50 cents in the coming year.

Token/Ticket pricing will be adjusted on Jan. 2, 2020, to the following rates:

•Deviated Route Token $2 ($1.50 2019)

•Demand Response Token $2.50 ($2 2019)

•Demand Response County $3.00 ($2.50 2019)

County wide service:

•Outside City Limits Austin-Albert Lea Shuttle $3.50 ($3 2019)

•Mankato Circle Run (Waseca) $4.50 ($4 2019)

Student rate:

The student rate will remain the same at $1. Children five and under will remain free of charge with paid adult

Austin service change:

Additional preschool service hours added to community of Austin. Three new preschool routes will be added, minor adjustments to deviated route services.

Owatonna services change:

Deviated Work Route service hours will be adjusted to Demand Response service – Adjusted Demand Response bus will operate 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a focus on work related trips 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Minor adjustments to deviated route services.

Albert Lea and Waseca service change:

Minor adjustments to deviated route services.
