The Austin girls hockey team turned to a rookie goalie as it lost to Worthington (3-3 overall) 10-3 on the road Saturday.
Kate Holtz made her debut in the net for the Packers (2-5 overall) and she finished with 18 saves.
“I was really proud of Kate stepping up and playing goalie for us,” Austin head coach Troy Holtz said. “The hardest position to play is goalie and she had one day to prepare. Both of our regular goalies are unavailable and we’re not sure when they will return. The team is going to keep playing hard and maybe there is a player that is a hidden gem as a goaltender.”
Jordyn McCormack had two goals and an assist for Austin, Lexi Stich had two assists and Isikyah Hemann had one goal.
