The Hayfield girls basketball team let a late chance slip away as they lost 36-35 to Maple River (3-3 overall, 1-2 Gopher) on the road Thursday.

The Vikings (2-5 overall) had a chance to win the game with seven seconds left, but they failed to score.

“It was there, but we just didn’t execute it properly,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “It’s a disappointing loss.”
