Joann Mary Beth Lee, 88, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.
Joann was born on July 31, 1931, in Austin, the eldest daughter of Joe and Signe (Anderson) Prehoda. She lived her entire life in Austin. After graduating from high school, she began her employment with Hormel. In 1954, she married Richard W. Lee. They both retired from Hormel in 1987.
Early in her retirement, she enjoyed time up north on Leech Lake and flying to Seattle, Washington, and Dallas, Texas, to visit her grandchildren.
In recent years, she enjoyed making lefse and baking sweets. When she wasn’t shopping on QVC, you could find her in the yard with her flowers. Her greatest joy came when she was able to spend time with her great grandson, Isaac.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Signe Prehoda; her husband, Richard; and their partners in fishing and canasta, Merrill and Louise Lee. Joann is survived by her children, Debrajo (Jake) Toledo, Tammy (Eric) Holby and Tim (Teresa DeRousse); grandsons, Phillip (Katrina) and Tyler; great-grandson, Isaac; lifelong friend, Lois Post; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters, Marlene Hillson and Deanna Prehoda.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Madison Chelberg officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
