Gach and the Utes are rolling

Austin native Both Gach and the Utah Utes have put themselves in position to chase an NCAA Tournament berth as they enter the PAC 12 schedule.
Gach and the Utes (9-3 overall) beat No. 6 ranked Kentucky 69-66 in Las Vegas on Dec. 18 but they lost to No. 20 San Diego State 80-52 in Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Gach had 14 points and six rebounds in the upset over the Wildcats and he had eight points and four rebounds in the loss to the undefeated Aztecs (12-0 overall).
Gach is averaging 11.6 points, 3.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game for the Utes, while shooting 42 percent from the field, 32 percent on three-pointers and 75 percent on free throws.
Austin grad Duoth Gach had two points and two rebounds as North Dakota State College of Science (10-2 overall) beat Northeast 85-61 on Dec. 11.
Austin grad Moses Suleman had three points in the win.
Lyle grad Kristi Fett had five points and four rebounds for Minnesota State University as the Mavericks (7-3 overall) beat Concordia-St. Paul 84-79 on Saturday.
Pacelli grad Sarah Holtz scored nine points for Luther College (3-5 overall) as the Norse beat No. 25 UW-Plateville 61-57 on Dec. 14.
It was Luther’s second win over a nationally ranked team in 10 days.
Austin grad Shayley Vesel had 12 points for the University of St. Mary’s (1-6 overall) in a 91-54 loss to Wartburg on Dec. 20.
Grand Meadow grad Jordyn Glynn logged in a minute and had one steal for the University of St. Thomas (6-2 overall) in a 69-65 loss to Augsburg on Dec. 11.
Glynn, a freshman, has played in seven games for the Tommies and is averaging 1.1 points per game.
Grand Meadow grad Skylar Cotten had two points and two rebounds for Bethany Lutheran College as the Vikings (6-2 overall) beat UW-Superior 69-68 on Dec. 14.
