The Austin boys hockey team hung around for two periods in Waseca, but it lost to the Bluejays 6-2 in its season opener Friday.

Austin trailed just 3-2 after two periods, but Waseca tacked on three goals in the final period.

Kaleb Ree and Garett Shaefer each scored in the loss for the Packers (0-1 overall).
