In the past 20 years, the Northwestern Singers have raised over $59,000 for Austin Public and parochial school music programs as a result of the benefit concerts.
This year’s benefit concert will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Edwards Catholic Church. This is a change in location from St. Olaf Lutheran Church, which has been the venue for many years.
This year the performing school groups include the Austinaires, I.J. Holton Choir, Ellis Choir, Pacelli High School Choir and Pacelli Women’s Choir.
The Riverland College Choir and Northwestern Singers will also perform.
Each group will perform two songs. There will be more than 200 students along with NWS and Riverland Choir filling the church with amazing music. The mass choir song “Why We Sing” has become a traditional finale and a favorite of the audience and performers.
Come and support local youth music programs and enjoy wonderful music by singers of all ages.
