Donna M. Baumbach, 87, formerly of LeRoy, Minnesota, died on Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, at Madonna Towers in Rochester, Minnesota.

Donna Mae Smith was born Oct. 13, 1932, in Genoa, Minnesota, to Ray and Florence Smith. She was united in marriage to Eugene Baumbach on June 15, 1952, in St. Charles, Minnesota. Eugene was a teacher and principal at LeRoy-Ostrander for many years. Donna worked as a nanny for 10 years and worked at Hormel for 37 years. She was a member of the Library Board, multiple church circles, several card clubs, and was very active in community education. Donna loved to bake, play bridge, travel, and entertain friends and faculty. She also enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Donna is survived by her children, Kirk (Lori) Baumbach, Bret (Kathy) Baumbach and Danette (Matt) Bashaw, all of Byron, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Shaylene) Baumbach, Tyler (Chelsey) Baumbach, Ryan Baumbach, Cody Baumbach, Kendra (Josh) Maggert, Logan Bashaw and Drew Bashaw, and four great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Kylie, Vincent and Maverick. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene, on Aug. 2, 1972; four brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at LeRoy Lutheran Church with Pastor Herman Bakker officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at LeRoy Lutheran Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
