Brian P. Rehdantz, 62, of Glenville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully from pancreatic cancer on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at home, surrounded by loving family and pets.

Brian was born on Sept. 23, 1957, to Harlan and Ruby (Johannsen) Rehdantz in Albert Lea, Minnesota. His childhood and teenage years were spent on his uncle’s dairy farm in Clarks Grove, Minnesota, attending school in Albert Lea. After graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1976, Brian began his working life. Brian was employed at lumberyards, Fleetguard in Lake Mills, Iowa, and most notably, Stadheim’s Sanitation in Albert Lea. Brian married Rita Simpson on May 7, 1977, at the United Church of Christ in Albert Lea. To this union, three children were born. The couple has called Glenville home for the last 19 years.

Brian was a proud member of AA and enjoyed visiting and playing cards with fellow members. Brian was a woodworker and an outdoorsman who especially loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed stamp collecting, playing jokes on family and sharing his love of music.

Whenever a 1970s classic rock song plays on the radio, his family will remember him. Brian was notorious for his easy-going and quiet nature, his ability to listen and care and his gigantic love for his family. Brian’s family is thankful to have shared in the life of such a strong, loyal and goofy man.

Brian is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rita Rehdantz; two daughters, Susan Rehdantz and Heather Rehdantz; one son, James Rehdantz, and wife, Carissa; three grandsons, Zane Anderson, Riley Rehdantz and Harper Rehdantz; one granddaughter, Brooklyn Mechtel; and a special cat, Scooter. Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Ruby Rehdantz; his father and mother-in-law, Al and Betty Berven; and his brother-in-law, Roger Simpson.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Mayo Clinic Hospice caregivers Jenny, Tara, Nancy and Jackie, the music therapist, Emma, and Pastor Loren Olson.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea with Pastor Loren Olson officiating. Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, at Bonnerup Funeral Service and will continue for one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.
