Dallas Aaron Ball, 26, of Austin was charged with felony domestic assault and felony domestic assault by strangulation on Thursday in Mower County District Court.
According to the court complaint, officers responded to a domestic call at about 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday in the 300 block of Second Avenue Southwest.
Dispatch advised the alleged victim had left her house and called police from a neighbor’s house.

Officers located the victim at the corner of Third Avenue and First Street Southwest and saw Ball in front of the victim’s residence.
An officer spoke to the victim, who said she had a relationship with Ball, but did not live with him. She said that Ball came to her residence that morning while she was asleep and started using her cell phone.
She said Ball woke her up at about 8:30 a.m. angry because he found a picture of her kissing someone on her cell phone.
She told Ball to leave, but he refused and took her car keys. When she went to her closet to put on clothes, she said Ball shut the door and said, “Try to get out of there,” before opening the door and shoving her into the wall and damaging the sheet rock. She then said Ball threw her onto the bed and began to strangle her to the point that she could not breathe. She said he yelled, “You want me to be violent?”
The victim indicated she was able to get off the bed and Ball took her cell phone. When she tried to get it back, he threw her to the floor, causing her to strike her head. She said at some point she struck Ball in the face to get away from him.
An officer photographed damage to the sheet rock in the closet and injuries to the victim’s head, neck, throat and foot.
Another officer spoke to Ball, who said he was on the victim’s tablet and learned she was “cheating” on him. When he confronted her, Ball said she “flipped out” and punched him in the face. He claimed not to remember anything because he “blacked out from being angry.” He said he saw hand marks on the victim’s throat and said, “I hope I didn’t do that.”
The officer observed a scratch mark on Ball’s upper chest, but did not see any injuries Ball’s face where he said the victim punched him.
A review of Ball’s criminal history shows prior convictions for domestic assault and failing to register as a predatory offender. He is currently on probation.
Ball will appear in court again on Oct. 31.
