Woman charged after firearms, 2 pounds of meth allegedly found at residence

Dawn Marie Marcks, 51, of Austin made her first appearance in Mower County District Court on Monday. She has been charged with felony first-degree drugs-possess 100 grams or more of methamphetamine, gross misdemeanor user of a controlled substance in possession of firearm ammunition, two counts of gross misdemeanor user of a controlled substance in possession of a pistol and three counts of gross misdemeanor user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm.
According to the court complaint, law enforcement executed a search warrant at 1:50 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Marcks’ residence in the 800 block of Sixth Avenue Northeast. Marcks was located in the front yard and detained without incident.
Marcks admitted that she had about three ounces of methamphetamine in her living room and another three ounces in her bedroom. She also said she had a 9mm pistol in a safe in her bedroom and provided officers with the combination.
The following items were seized during the search:
- Approximately 2.02 pounds (916.25 grams) of methamphetamine;
- $8,954 in cash;
- A Ruger .380 caliber pistol;
- A Taurus 9mm pistol;
- Two Marlin .22 caliber rifles;
- A Winchester .22 caliber rifle;
- Various calibers of pistol and rifle ammunition;
- A Samsung cell phone; and
- An Apple iPad.
Marcks will appear in court again on Aug. 29.
