The Austin girls soccer team underwent some second half struggles as it lost to Mankato East (3-0 overall, 3-0 Big Nine) 3-0 in Mankato Tuesday.
The Cougars scored in the 11th minutes of the game to go up 1-0, but the Packers (1-2 overall, 0-1 Big Nine) created plenty of opportunities to hang around as the halftime deficit was just 1-0.
“Overall, I think we outplayed them in the first half. I think we had a lot more opportunities in the first half,” Austin head coach Jake Levisen said. “The girls played really well in the first half. In the second half, East was able to beat us to the ball a little bit more.”
Austin had 11 shots on goal and Robin Weaver had 12 saves for the Packers.
“Robin had a phenomenal night in goal and she made some big saves and Hope Dudycha made some big plays in the midfield for us,” Levisen said.
