Roger M. Slindee, 79, formerly of the Austin, Minnesota, area passed away from heart failure in the early hours of Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, with his daughter and son in law by his side.

Roger M. Slindee, 79

Roger was born on Feb. 1, 1940, in Grand Meadow, Minnesota, to Theodore and Ethel Slindee. Roger graduated from Austin High School in 1958 and went on to get an Associate in Arts Degree from Austin Junior College. He served six years in the Minnesota National Guard before getting an honorable discharge.

Roger had many occupations over the years, such as a real estate agent, construction worker and a carpenter, but his true occupation and love was farming. Roger took great pride in his community and wanted to help serve in any way he could, such as by serving on the Red Rock Township board for 20 years, helping to build the new town hall and being a key player in the fight against having a major chicken operation built in the township.

In his free time, Roger loved going on trips or camping. He enjoyed nature, reading, playing cards and helping family and friends with home improvement projects. He also had a great love for animals and always ended up keeping the stray animals that found their way to his farm.

Roger had relocated to the Twin Cities in April to be closer to his daughter and her family.
