No Doggy Dip at the Austin Municipal Pool

Man’s best friend will have to look for another way to cool down this summer.
The Austin Municipal Pool will not be holding its annual Doggy Dip event this year. The Doggy Dip has been the last event held at the pool for the past few years, allowing patrons a chance to enjoy a swim with their furry companions. The pool was then drained and closed for the season.
Austin Park and Recreation Director Kevin Nelson said the Minnesota Health Department is not allowing the event.
“The Minnesota Department of Health said it can’t happen this year; I’m not aware of what the details are about that,” he said.
Nelson said he believed the Health Department’s decision was statewide, not just for Austin.
The last day for swimming at the pool is Friday, Aug. 16.
